Our Research Process
Every article on FluentWanderer is written by Kathy Houlihan or under her editorial direction, drawing on 22 years of education and travel experience. We don't publish AI-generated content without human review, and we don't rewrite other sites' articles.
Phrase Banks
Our phrase banks are generated using Google Translate for initial translations, then human-reviewed for idiomatic accuracy. Pronunciation guides are written to help English speakers approximate the sounds — they're not a substitute for native audio, which is why we include Web Speech API playback on every card.
For languages with politeness registers (Japanese, Korean, French), phrases are calibrated to the polite level that works in the widest range of situations. We note when a phrase is formal vs. casual.
Course Reviews
Our Rocket Languages reviews are based on the current product as of our last-updated date. We evaluate courses on three criteria: (1) depth of conversational content, (2) voice recognition pronunciation accuracy, and (3) value-for-money versus subscription alternatives.
All claims about Rocket Languages features (22 years of teaching experience, 2,000,000+ members, 4.7-star rating, voice recognition tech) are sourced from Rocket Languages' own public materials. We do not independently audit these claims, but we also do not embellish them.
Competitor Comparisons
